Vandal Athletic Center
Moscow, Idaho / 2010
The $10 million Vandal Athletic Facility expansion and renovation is a versatile and major asset to the campus and the surrounding community. In addition to university varsity events, the “Kibbie Dome” is host to intramural and drop-in recreation activities, high school athletic events, and a myriad of special events such as University commencement, concerts, regional competitions, shows, and conventions. The intent of the project is to renew existing space within the Kibbie East End as well as provide additional space to more fully support the role and mission of the Department of Athletics and maintain and enhance recreation and other event uses in the facility. For this project, Opsis was design architect with Lombard Conrad Architects as executive architect.
The success of the University’s Athletic Department has resulted in growth and expansion which caused space needs to far exceed available facility resources. The new project includes operations and management space, new sports medicine and training space, new team meeting rooms, a new Hall of Fame and function/event area, a sports information center, expanded equipment storage, enhanced men’s and women’s lockers, and a new speed and strength center.
