Saint Alphonsus RMC Angio BiPlane Tenant Improvement
Boise, Idaho / 2024
In 2023, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center partnered with Lombard/Conrad Architects to meet a growing need in the healthcare sector: expanding hospital-based medical imaging to support both inpatient and outpatient care. With demand rising, the goal was to design a forward-looking solution that delivered immediate impact while laying the groundwork for future growth.
From the start, our team engaged hospital staff to understand operational needs, critical adjacencies, and the urgency of the timeline. The project centered around converting an existing shell space strategically located between the medical imaging suite, emergency department, and outpatient registration. This posed a key challenge, creating a functional, efficient space while maintaining operations in a high-traffic zone of the hospital.
Through collaboration and strategic planning, the team developed a phased approach. Phase 1 included the installation of the first Philips BiPlane imaging equipment of its kind in the country, an advanced diagnostic tool. The design also featured two semi-private and one private pre/post-op recovery bays, as well as dedicated care team spaces, support areas, and amenities. To optimize workflow, an existing emergency department work room was relocated to streamline cross-traffic between the Emergency Department and the new suite.
The result is a highly functional and future-ready imaging suite that enhances patient care and staff efficiency. With infrastructure in place for two additional procedure rooms and expanded recovery spaces. The project sets the stage for continued growth, aligning Saint Alphonsus with the evolving demands of modern healthcare.
